In the early decades of the 21^st Century we are witnessing unmistakable trend of interdisciplinary studies in seemingly diverse disciplines of science and technology. Furthermore unification of sciences on one hand and convergence of technologies on the other. The nucleation of School of Interdisciplinary Science and Technology (SoST) at I²IT captures this important trend with the objective of equipping graduate students with knowledge, tools and techniques that will be essential for creating new ideas, inventions and innovations of the 21^st Century.

The main aim of the School is to nurture creators, discoverers, inventors and innovators based on fundamental research focused towards cutting-edge technologies and their applications. The School has identified the following areas for advanced education and research: Robotics, Nanoscience & Nanotechnology, Space Technology, Applied Cognitive Technology and Futuristic Transportation System
